Jogi’s Letter 48-Give me a break!

My dear friend,

A man goes to a temple and prays, “God, I need a break. I need to win a lottery. I am counting on you, God.” Two weeks passed but nothing happened. Surprised man went to the temple again.

“God, about the lottery…I have been a good man for 2 weeks, I have given up drinking, I am really good now. Give me a break. Let me win the lottery please.”

Another 2 weeks later, still no richer, he returns to the temple and prays once again, “God, I have been praying, using affirmations, doing visualizations with positive self talk but all in vain. God, give me a break. Let me win the lottery please.”

Like in mythological tales, the heaven opens up with lightning and music, and a deep voice says, “My son, give me a break! Please buy a lottery ticket !”

So what’s the learning from the story, my friend?

One of the learnings is to take action. Whatever pursuits you are pursuing in life, action is the most important thing. Many times in life, we bog down too much in planning, analyzing, and thinking when the most important thing we should do is to take action and start. Isn’t it?

To be successful, we must set our vision first. Define that goal or dream or vision crystal clear. Now break it down into small steps, anticipate obstacles and plan how to deal with them, visualize and affirm your success and most importantly, believe in your dreams. And then start taking action. Learn whatever you need to learn. Learn through books, mentors or any medium but learn to progress in the journey by taking action. You will either learn a lesson or succeed.

Have you been pondering something for an eternity? Take action, embark on that small but significant step—book that travel ticket, join the gym, pen the opening lines of your novel, or enroll in that course. For heaven’s sake, take action. Always remember, nothing transpires until you seize the reins of action.

So my dear friend, think of an action you need to take today and start 🙂
